An employee and patron fought at a Bluffton restaurant Saturday afternoon.

A waiter at La Hacienda on Bluffton Road had returned from a break at 5:30 p.m. when he checked on a table with several men and a 2-month-old child, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office. One of the men allegedly began to fight with the waiter, throwing a bowl, glasses and bottles at him, according to an incident report.

The child's mother heard shouts and glass breaking upon returning from the bathroom, the report said. The woman told deputies she screamed for the men to stop fighting. She later found glass on her child and a scratch on his nose.

The restaurant's manager also tried to break up the fight, the report said, but was struck on the back of the head with an unknown object, fell to the floor and briefly lost consciousness. He requested medical treatment after complaining of dizziness, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Both parties gave deputies conflicting information, including that another patron was involved in the fight but left before officers arrived.

No one was charged in the incident.
