Concours d'Elegance was the best one yet

This year's Hilton Head Island Concours d'Elegance & Motoring Festival at Port Royal was unbelievable. We have gone every year, and every year, the event is bigger and better. I have been to these events in Lafayette, Napa, Pebble Beach and Las Vegas -- and the Hilton Head event was every bit as good, and in some respects, even better. Parking at Honey Horn was easy and free. We waited literally no time at all for the shuttle both coming and going, and the venue on the golf course was simply lovely.

Many of the cars were one-of-a-kind, and others were classics from all over the U.S. The Gatsby exhibition was quite unique, featuring elegance from a bygone era. One could see everything from highly polished, old wooden boats to motorcycles and racing Porsches. All of the volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable, and many were friends of ours. They made the atmosphere cheerful and pleasant.

We can and should be very proud of our island, and we should look to and remind each other about the many positive things that happen here.
