A Gaston woman was charged with child neglect Wednesday after she left her 3-year-old daughter unattended inside a Lady's Island McDonald's while she slept in a pickup truck outside, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.

Deputies were called to the McDonald's at about 9:15 p.m. by a woman who found the 3-year-old shirtless and unattended, the report said.

The girl's 30-year-old mother was found asleep and intoxicated in a pickup truck by deputies, the report said. The woman told them her daughter could have either escaped from the truck and gone into the McDonald's on her own, or her boyfriend could have left her unattended inside.

The boyfriend told deputies he had left his girlfriend and the girl in the truck after the woman began throwing items out the window as they drove away from a nearby grocery store.

After the woman was arrested and put into a patrol car, she took off her pants in the backseat and began claiming deputies did it. The woman also banged her head against the car's window bars and asked deputies drive her to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment of an injury, the report said.

After she was cleared by a doctor, the woman was brought to the Beaufort County Detention Center, where her bond was set at $10,000.
