A St. Helena Island woman returned to her home about 1 p.m. Wednesday to find a burglar, who immediately ran from the house and disappeared.

Beaufort County Sheriff's Office deputies and a K-9 unit searched the surrounding Fripp Point Road area until 3 p.m., but could not find the man. Officers will continue to patrol the area, a news release said.

The suspect was described as a black male, about 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, with short dreadlocks. He was wearing blue jeans and a long-sleeve, white shirt with black markings on the sleeves.
