Blue Heron Point got no say in road changes

info@islandpacket.comNovember 6, 2013

It was nice to read in the newspaper on Oct. 29 that Beaufort County and Windmill Harbor have come to an agreement to endorse improvements to the road that services the Blue Heron Point community. The action has taken place with no notification to the residents of the Blue Heron community nor any opportunity to view the proposal or give input.

The need to increase the safety of the intersections is acknowledged, but why the secrecy in keeping the community in the dark? How would anyone feel about another area planning road changes without consulting all of the affected residents?

Maybe we will get our chance for input when the S.C. Department of Transportation gets the proposal. It's also magical that $1.4 million is suddenly available for this project.
