Hilton Head Island's annual Veterans Day observance will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Veterans Memorial in Shelter Cove Community Park.

The event is sponsored by the Military Veterans Coalition of Hilton Head Island and will be hosted by American Legion Post 185. The keynote speaker will be Mary DeCredico, history professor at the U.S. Naval Academy. The Parris Island Marine Band and the Hilton Head High School Navy Junior ROTC also will attend, and a rifle salute by the 1st Brigade 369 Armor unit from Fort Stewart, Ga., is planned.

In the event of bad weather, the event will be moved to the Seahawk Cultural Center at Hilton Head High School.

A luncheon will follow at the Oceanfront Omni Resort in Palmetto Dunes, featuring live music from The Headliners. Cost is $25 for the luncheon. Reservations are required. Call 843-681-4960.
