Ridgeland-Hardeeville falls at home to Bishop England, 35-13

With a win Friday night, Ridgeland-Hardeeville could have clinched a share of the Region 6-AA championship.

Instead it was Bishop England (8-2, 7-0) that won the crown outright with a 35-13 win over the Jaguars at Jasper County Stadium in Ridgeland.

"It was a bad night to be a spread team," Ridgeland-Hardeeville coach Blake Raley said. "We had some chances and we just didn't get it done."

The Jaguars (6-4, 5-2) simply could not stop Bishops running back Nick Shiver.

"We didn't tackle 20 all night," Raley said.

The senior rushed for 225 yards and scored all five of Bishop England's touchdowns.

For the Jaguars, quarterback D.J. Myers scored on a 1-yard plunge, and running back Marquis Griffin broke away for a 70-yard touchdown run.

Despite the loss, Raley said he thought the Jaguars would host a playoff game.
