Prep Notebook, Nov. 1: Volleyball accolades for several area standouts, coaches

With the end of the volleyball regular season comes the superlatives voted on by the coaches for each region.

For Hilton Head Island High School, Sierra Davis, Mallory Lewis and Hannah Edelman were named to the All-Region 8-AAA squad, and Seahawks coach Garret Talarczyk was named the region coach of the year.

For Bluffton, senior Mackenzie Cooler was named the Region 8-AAAA Player of the year and joined teammates Jordan Franklin, Haley Kohler and Madison Cooler on the all-region squad.

And for Whale Branch, the Region 5-A runner up, Audrey Rhode was selected the coach of the year, while Rietta Salters, Shaniqua Johnson and Olivia Walker were named all-region.

DOLPHINS TO HONOR FORMER CHAMPS

Battery Creek High School will recognize its 1996 and 1998 girls basketball state championship teams on Dec. 13.

The ceremony will be held during halftime of the boys game with rival Beaufort High School. Members of one of these teams or those who know how to get in contact with the members of the teams are asked to contact athletics director John Drafts at 843-322-5574 or john.drafts@beaufort.k12.sc.us.
