Wapshott's book unveils much about GOP

info@islandpacket.comOctober 31, 2013

If anyone wishes to understand the metamorphosis of the Republican Party, an easy book to read is "Keynes Hayek: The Clash that Defined Modern Economics" by Nicholas Wapshott. It is extremely easy to read and also very interesting. It helps the reader understand who these two men, Freidrich Hayek and John Maynard Keynes, were and what their economic theories were all about. It informs the reader about the influence of Hayek on Margaret Thatcher, and the influence Milton Friedman (a devotee of Hayek and the Mont Perelin Society and a member of the Chicago School of Economics) had on President Ronald Reagan. You may be surprised to know that President Nixon once stated, "We are all Keynesians now." It is better to understand than to listen to sound bytes.
