Hilton Head Island 3rd after Day 1 of 3-A girls golf championship

Hilton Head Island High School sits tied for eighth place, 69 shots off the lead with a score of 391, after the first day of the South Carolina Class 3-A Girls Golf Championship at Black Bear Golf Club in Longs.

Pickens leads the tournament after shooting a team score of 322 on Monday on the 5,380-yard layout. Daniel is the next best, 18 shots back at 340.

The Seahawks were led by Meredith Wipper, who is tied for 34th with her first-round 93. The team will tee off between 9:20 and 9:52 a.m. Tuesday.
