Port Royal Plantation resident Gil Campbell discusses his thoughts on what the Town of Hilton Head Island's role should be in fostering arts and cultural groups. Campbell and his wife were among 35 residents -- a vast majority of whom were affiliated with an island arts or culture group -- who participated Oct. 28, 2013, in one of six planned "community conversations" on the needs, vision and aspirations of the cultural life of Hilton Head. The meetings are facilitated by the Cultural Planning Group of Philadelphia. The firm was hired by the town to study a possible collaboration among local performing and cultural arts organizations to make their operations more efficient and help them support themselves.
