A Savannah woman was killed Saturday morning after her car rolled over and struck several trees in Hardeeville.

Rosemary Delatorre was driving southwest on Argent Boulevard near the New River Auto Mall about 9 a.m. when she swerved and her vehicle overturned, rolling down an embankment, according to Capt. Steve Camp of the Hardeeville Fire Department.

The car struck several tree and one of the three passengers in the car was ejected, Camp said.

A vehicle driving in the opposite direction may have come into her lane, Camp said. The S.C. Highway Patrol did not have additional information Saturday. The crash remains under investigation, Senior Trooper Bridget Wyant said.

Delatorre, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered massive blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls said. Her age was not available, he said.

The passenger who was ejected was flown by LifeStar Air Ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Camp said. Two others, who were alert after the crash, were taken to Coastal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville.

Their conditions were unavailable late Saturday.
