Middle ground lost as place for debate

info@islandpacket.comOctober 24, 2013

A principal problem for conservatives (and the Republican Party) is that the mainstream media have it in their psyche and reporting that things conservative are by their very nature either bad or outdated and that things liberal or progressive are by their very nature good or conform to the current times, i.e., cultural evolution.

We have created a situation in which the so-called "middle ground" of reason and constructive debate goes missing. It does not matter what the facts tell us; it is all about ideology without regard to the practical elements that hold a free and open society together.

Thus, we have politicians who care more about power, position and hidden agendas than about what is, in fact, good for the country as a whole and its individual citizens.
