Officers are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged two mobile homes in Ridgeland on Wednesday morning.

Fire fighters responded about 5 a.m. to the 200 block of Mid Way Circle to find a single-wide trailer smoldering, according to the Hardeeville Fire Department. One room was burnt and a nearby trailer sustained damage to its siding and skirting, according to the Jasper County Sheriff's Office.

A family lived in the home that suffered interior damage, but no injuries were reported, the fire department said. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating the cause of the blaze.

An estimate of the cost of damages was not available Wednesday morning.
