American Association of University Women to meet Oct. 22

Women interested in promoting equity and education for women and girls are invited to attend the first meeting of the 2013-14 year of the Beaufort branch of the American Association of University Women.

The meeting, which includes a complimentary dinner, is at 6 p.m. Oct. 22 in room 107 of building 12 at the Technical College of the Lowcountry's Beaufort campus, 912 Ribaut Road.

The American Association of University Women is a national organization founded in 1881 that believes society's advancement depends larged on women having equal access and opportunity. The national organization has awarded fellowships and grants to more than 12,000 women.

The Beaufort branch awards a scholarship to a local woman returning to college or technical school each year and gives annually to the national organization's educational fund. Details: Diana Steele, 843-522-2796 or steele.diana@comcast.net.
