Photography Club of Beaufort announces winners of fall competition

"Study in Blue" by Russ Dimke won best in show and first place in the intermediate category in the Photography Club of Beaufort's fall competition.

The Photography Club of Beaufort recently announced the winners of its fall competition. Photos were judged based on technical quality, composition and interest. During the competition, the judges â€" photojournalist Bob Sofaly, commercial photographer Stuart Lathrop and Susan Laney of Laney Contemporary Fine Art in Savannah â€" shared their expertise and offered constructive critiques.

Best in show was Russ Dimke's "Study in Blue," which also won first place in the intermediate category.

Winners in the novice category were: first place, "Cattle Egrets" by Lynn Long; second place, "Rhineland Castle" by Rebecca Bass; honorable mention, "Lion Love" by Dick Hoagland.

In the intermediate category there was a tie for second place between "Marion" by Al Heacox and "Singin' the Blues in New Orleans" by Barry Wright.

Winners in the advanced category were: first, "Sandy Hands" by Geneva Baxley and a tie for second place between "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" by Phyllis Kaupp-Seas and "Easter Egret" by Everett Gauthier.

Winners in the expert division were: first place, "African Parade" by John Wollwerth; second place, "Katmandu Saddhu" by Randy Thompson; honorable mention, "Old Mill Pond" by Sandy Dimke.
