Eric Blakely carried the ball 16 times for 122 yards and three touchdowns in the Eagles' 35-27 win over county rival Bluffton in the Region 8-AAAA opener for both teams. Blakely's third touchdown was a 58-yard scamper that gave the Eagles (6-1, 1-0) a much-needed cushion in the fourth quarter.

Seth Jones was the go-to guy for the Rebels (5-2, 1-0 SCISAA Region 2-AA) in their 41-35 win at Hilton Head Prep. Taking over in the second half for injured quarterback Davis Owens, Jones rushed 39 times for 232 yards and two touchdowns.
