A woman tried to make her way out of a Hilton Head Island store Monday with more than her just her child in her stroller, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office reported.

A 23-year-old Hilton Head woman, who was at Walmart on Pembroke Drive on Monday at about 1:45 p.m., was placing merchandise into a large orange tote bag and her baby buggy, according to the Sheriff's Office. Her fiancè, a 24-year-old Hilton Head man, was also placing numerous products into a large gray tote and concealing two watches, an incident report said.

As the man left the store's front entrance, the woman exited through the garden section, according to the report. Neither attempted to pay for their items, worth a total of $702.

When confronted, the woman told deputies she had been looking for her fiancè to retrieve money for the purchases. Both were charged with shoplifting, the report said.
