A St. Helena Island woman was arrested Wednesday after a domestic fight in which she allegedly hit her husband with a baseball bat.

Kiani Shell Major, 42, was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, according to the Beaufort County Detention Center log. About 6 a.m. Sunday, she reportedly struck the victim with the bat, causing a finger on the 41-year-old man's left hand to swell, according to the Sheriff's Office.

He declined medical attention and said he had no other injuries, said Beaufort County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sgt. Robin McIntosh.

Major's bond was set at $10,000, and she was released from jail Thursday.
