USC Beaufort men take 5th in Johnson & Wales tournament

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. -- The University of South Carolina Beaufort men's golf team wrapped up the Dave Adamonis Sr. Invitational with a fifth-place finish after carding a final round team score of 292 Tuesday at the Westin Diplomat Golf Resort.

The Sand Sharks finished the 54-hole event with a team total of 883, 16 shots behind host Johnson & Wales, which edged Webber International by one stroke for the team title. Coastal Georgia and Northwood tied for third at 880.

Sophomore Jud Milam led the way for USCB, tying for fifth at 1-over-par 217 with rounds of 73, 71 and 73. Freshman Alan Cooke (72-76-73) and sophomore Cory Cottrell (73-74-74) tied for 13th at 221, followed by junior Chris Finke (76-76-74) in a tie for 26th at 226 and senior Owen Bell (80-76-72) in a tie for 33rd at 228.

The Sand Sharks wrap up the fall season Oct. 28-29 at the Sun Conference Fall Major, the Southeastern Fall Invitational at Eagle Brooke Golf Club in Lakeland, Fla.
