A Seabrook teen was arrested Monday morning and charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting a man multiple times.

50-year-old Craig Jenkins told police that 16-year-old Zajuan Travist James shot him in the hand and the abdomen around 12:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Jenkins told deputies that he was shot by James while walking in the area of 56 Seabrook Center Rd.

According to Beaufort Sheriff's Office investigators, Jenkins and James had been involved in a verbal altercation Sunday afternoon. The pair, investigators reported, ran into each other again later that evening, leading James to allegedly fire several rounds at Jenkins before fleeing the area.

Sheriff's deputies arrested James at his home on Detour Road.

The weapon believed to have been used in the shooting was found discarded in the woods near the crime scene.

James has been charged as an adult and is currently being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center.

Jenkins was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital and his condition has not been disclosed.
