ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Congratulations to the new Health Occupational Students of America officers. They are Vanessa Stanley as president, Fatime Watson as vice president, Daneshia Shuler as treasurer, Gabriela Portela as secretary, Illyona Johnstone as historian, Hope Reislet as reporter and Rebekkah Scott as parlementarian.

  • EVENTS
  • The Battery Creek High School Players will present a weekend of Halloween hilarity with two shows. The first is "Cheating Death," in which insane asylum patients confront death and try to save a friend. The other is "10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse," in which four survivors demonstrate creative ways to stay alive during a zombie apocalypse. The shows are at 7 p.m. Nov. 1 and 2. Tickets are $3 for adults and students. Children are free, but donations are welcome.

  • The school will have a Homecoming Parade on Oct. 18, and would like to have all former Miss BCHS Pageant winners and Homecoming Kings and Queens participate. Details: Diane Grooms, 843-322-5582

    ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Ninety-four juniors and seniors were recently inducted into the National Honor Society at the school. To be eligible for membership, students must have earned a GPA of 3.8 or higher, be of good character, and demonstrate leadership ability and service experience.

  • LADY'S ISLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

  • As part of the school's celebration of its 50th birthday, school faculty are seeking memorabilia from the school. If you attended or worked at Lady's Island Elementary in the past and have any mementos or photos, the school would like to borrow them for its Nov. 1 celebration.   • The School Improvement Council and Parent Teacher Organization will meet at 5 and 6 p.m., respectively, on Oct. 14.

  • The school will sponsor a Fall Festival from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 18. Children can attend a fun and safe event while collecting candy.

  • All Beaufort parents and students are welcome at the Fall Book Fair. The fair will take place Oct. 15-18 at the school library and will feature a variety of books, posters, games, and more for preschool through eighth-grade reading levels.
