Congress only doing what we tell them to do

info@islandpacket.comOctober 13, 2013

As I watch this silly blame game over the federal budget, I would suggest that we are the ones to blame.

After all, we elected this cast of characters who are scared to death of the National Rifle Association, but very brave about crippling the federal government.

We are also to blame because most of us are aware that our bridges and roads are crumbling; our power grids are showing their age; our schoolchildren are falling behind others in the world in the sciences; and we need to care for thousands of veterans who have been wounded in unnecessary wars; we want a strong army with modern weapons, etc., etc.

Most of us probably also recognize that you need money to do all these things and that doing them would increase employment in the short term and make us stronger in the long term. Yet most of us want to reduce taxes and reduce government borrowing. Why do we blame the jokers we elected. They are only trying to cater to our unreasonable expectations.
