'Memphis Belle' to visit Savannah airport

A World War II-era bomber used in the movie "Memphis Belle" will be at Savannah/Hilton Head Island International Airport on Oct. 19 and 20, available for tours and flights, according to the Liberty Foundation, a nonprofit organization that sponsors the aircraft.

Flights aboard the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress will begin both days at 10 a.m., and continue until 2 p.m. Flights will begin every hour on the hour and will last for 45 minutes. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. visitors can tour the aircraft while it is on the ground.

There is no charge for the ground tours.

Flights cost $410 for Liberty Foundation members and $450 for nonmembers. A membership in the foundation costs $40 and allows discounts for family and friends.
