Editor's note: Sheriff's Office officials reported Tuesday that Hernandez has been located, is safe and does not face charges at this time.

Investigators are searching for a Lady's Island man who disappeared Sunday night after a domestic dispute with his wife, according to a news release from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Michael Hernandez, 33, was reported missing by his wife following a disturbance at their Sherwood Lane home. Deputies responded to the home at 5:30 p.m. Sunday after an anonymous call.

Hernandez's wife told deputies he had left after assaulting her. Hernandez threatened to shoot himself and left with a handgun, his wife told deputies.

Hernandez is being considered an endangered missing person, the release said. He is believed to be traveling to Orlando, Fla., but investigators have been unable to reach him.

He is Hispanic, approximately 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds and is believed to be in a green 2003 Ford Expedition with S.C. license plate AIH 613.

Because Hernandez is believed to be armed, caution should be taken if contact is made with him, the release said. Anyone with information on Hernandez's whereabouts can call 843-255-3418 or Crime Stoppers at 888-274-6372.
