Ricky Gadson

A 32-year-old Hilton Head Island man was charged with indecent exposure Saturday, nearly eight months after he was arrested for several peeping Tom incidents around the same location, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

On Aug. 6 and 7, Rocky Gadson was spotted hiding in bushes near the Forest Beach Villas on South Forest Beach Drive, Sgt. Robin McIntosh said. The woman who saw him told deputies he was fondling himself while watching people at the complex's pool.

Investigators identified Gadson as the man hiding in the bushes, and he was arrested Saturday while walking around the Fresh Market Shoppes on William Hilton Parkway, McIntosh said.

Gadson has a history of peeping incidents around South Forest Beach, authorities say. In February, Gadson was arrested in connection with several incidents stretching from October until the night of his arrest, when he was spotted at the Beach Arbor Villas complex by a resident. The resident had seen Gadson several times outside the complex, sometimes hiding in the bushes, according to a Sheriff's Office report.

He also was connected to other peeping Tom and indecent-exposure cases at the Metropolitan Hotel, Tanglewood Villas, the Comfort Inn on Tanglewood Drive and the Treetops apartments on Cordillo Parkway, according to the Sheriff's Office.

In one of those cases, in October, Gadson climbed a ladder to look at a 25-year-old woman through her second-story bedroom window, the report said. It's not clear how many of those charges, if any, Gadson has been tried on.

Gadson was taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center and released Sunday after posting a $10,000 bond, according to the jail log.
