Chili cookoff planned for Hilton Head Island

The Kiwanis Club of Hilton Head Island will hold its 29th annual chili cookoff from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Coastal Discovery Museum on Hilton Head.

The event will focus on local chili cooks in professional and amateur categories with separate awards for each. Chilly Willy Band will perform and there will be a supervised children's area with games and activities including a water slide so parents can fully enjoy the festivities.

Tickets are $12 in advance; $15 day of event. Proceeds from the event benefit The Children's Center, The Coastal Discovery Museum, Operation R&R, Marine Corps Scholarship Fund, Children's Memorial Fund and several other youth programs. Beer, wine, soda, hot dogs and ice cream will also be available for purchase.
