Chili cookoff set Saturday on Hilton Head

The Kiwanis Club of Hilton Head Island will hold its 29th annual Chili Cookoff from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn.

The Chilly Willy Band will perform. The event will focus on local chili cooks in professional and amateur categories, with separate awards for each. A supervised children's area with games and activities, including a water slide, will be provided.

Advance tickets are available for $12 at the Coastal Discovery Museum, Burke's Main Street Pharmacy, Reilley's South, User Friendly, Honeybaked Ham in Bluffton, Bluffton Pharmacy and from any Kiwanis member. Tickets are $15 on the day of the event.

Ticket holders can try as many samples of chili as they want.

Proceeds benefit The Children's Center, the Coastal Discovery Museum, Operation R&R, the Marine Corps Scholarship Fund, the Children's Memorial Fund and other youth programs.
