Bluffton residents Todd White and Jennifer Adams are on the road this weekend competing in their respective United States Golf Association events.

Adams will compete in the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship at Biltmore Forest Country Club in Asheville, N.C.

White is back in the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship after reaching the semifinals of match play in 2012. The 33rd U.S. Mid-Am will be played at the Country Club of Birmingham, starting with the first round of stroke play Saturday.

White tees off stroke play at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and 12:15 p.m. Sunday. The first round will be held on the 6,471-yard, par-70 East course and the second round on 7,173-yard, par-71 West course.

The 264-player field will be cut to the top 64 for match play, which starts Monday. The championship ends Thursday with the 36-hole final beginning at 7 a.m.

White's semifinal appearance in 2012 propelled him to a Walker Cup invitation. He played for victorious Team USA, along with four-time Mid-Am champion Nathan Smith. The 45-year-old White, a Hilton Head Island High School teacher, won his Sunday singles match 4 and 3 to help clinch the team's victory over Great Britain & Ireland.

Adams won the Women's South Carolina Golf Association Senior Championship in May at Belfair. She finished fifth in the Association's Amateur Championship in September at Colleton River Plantation.

Adams will start the first round of stroke play at 12:40 p.m. Saturday. She will tee off at 8:10 a.m. Sunday for a chance to qualify for Monday's opening round of match play.

Biltmore Forest is a Donald Ross design opened in 1922. It will play 6,152 yards, par 71.
