Prep Roundup, Oct. 3: Hilton Head Prep tennis team wins 24th straight

Hilton Head Prep 6, Ashley Hall 3: Hilton Head Prep (10-0, 7-0 SCISAA Region 3-AAA) takes its unbeaten streak to 24 with a win over Ashley Hall of Charleston.

The Dolphins play Hilton Head Christian Academy at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort.

Hilton Head Island 5, James Island 1: The Seahawks (8-3, 5-0) moved to within two wins of clinching Region 8-AAA. Hilton Head hosts Beaufort High at 4 p.m. Monday.

Bluffton 5, Beaufort High 1: The Bluffton High School girls tennis team picked up a crucial win in Region 8-AAAA on Thursday, knocking off Beaufort High, 5-1, to take over second place in the league.

Bluffton (5-4 overall, 3-1 region) next will have a chance to take down the region leaders, hosting Ashley Ridge at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Ashley Ridge was a 4-3 winner in the team's previous meeting this season.

Beaufort High falls to 4-7 overall and 3-2 in the region.

Academic Magnet 6, Battery Creek 0: The Dolphins fall to 1-6 with the loss. They host Wade Hampton on Tuesday.

Bluffton 2, Summerville 0; Bluffton 2, Beaufort High 0: The Bobcats improved to 7-0 in Region 8-AAAA with a pair of wins. Bluffton topped Summerville, 25-11, 25-23, and then defeated Beaufort, 25-8, 25-5.

Bluffton (22-7 overall, 7-0 region) plays in Hilton Head Island High School's tournament Friday and Saturday. The Bobcats open play at 4 p.m. Friday against Effingham.

JV: Bluffton 3, Beaufort High 0

Academic Magnet 2, Battery Creek 0; Battery Creek 2, Burke 0: The Dolphins lost to Academic Magnet (25-15, 25-9), but bounced back with a win over host Burke (25-5, 25-6).

Following a 3-0 win over Garrett Tech earlier in the week, Battery Creek is now 6-4 in Region 6-AA.

The Dolphins (7-5) host a tri-match Tuesday against Woodland and North Charleston.

Whale Branch 2, Estill 0; Whale Branch 2, Bethune-Bowman 1: The Warriors swept a tri-match.

In the Warriors's 25-16, 25-19 win over Estill, Rietta Salters led the way with five kills, four aces and five digs.

Other contributors included Shay Jiles (four aces, two kills, three digs), Shaniqua Johnson (three kills, two aces and two blocks), Kemoni Jenkins (three kills, four aces and three digs), Olivia Walker (four kills, four aces and two blocks), Jonae Riley (three kills, three aces), Dasia Wilson (two kills) and Myra Garcia (three digs).

Salters had five kills and four aces in the Warriors' 17-25, 28-26, 25-16 win over Bowman.

Other contributors included Jiles (four aces, four kills and two digs), Johnson (three kills, three aces and a block), Jenkins (five kills, four aces and a block), Walker (four kills, four aces and two blocks), Riley (three kills and four aces), Wilson (a kill) and Garcia (four digs).
