A 21-year-old Lady's Island man has been arrested in connection with recent burglaries at two northern Beaufort County elementary schools.

Cody Auvil Perkins and another unidentified man were captured on surveillance footage breaking into Coosa Elementary School at about 1 a.m. Sept. 22, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office. The suspects broke into a vending machine and cash register in the cafeteria, stealing an undisclosed amount of cash.

Perkins also is suspected of participating in a Sept. 21 break-in at Lady's Island Middle School, in which 26 iPads and two computers were taken.

Perkins was arrested Tuesday night by Jasper County officers acting on a tip, according to Beaufort police spokeswoman Hope Able. He is charged with second-degree burglary in that case.

Additional arrests are possible, Able said.
