Million-dollar Powerball winner in Hampton Co. has yet to come forward

— Drowned out by the hoopla surrounding a $400 million jackpot won in South Carolina in the Sept. 18 Powerball game was the news that a $1 million winner also was purchased in Hampton County, and the winner has not come foward.

The ticket came within one number of earning a share of the jackpot, the SC Education Lottery said. The ticket was purchased at Tiger Express on Elm Street West in Hampton. It matched all five white ball numbers: 7, 10, 22, 32, 35. For want of an extra buck to purchase the PowerPlay option, the ticket would have been worth $2 million.

The ticket holder has 180 days from the drawing date to claim the prize, which must be done at the Lottery Claims Center in Columbia.
