Local National Wildlife Refuges conduct 2nd annual photo contest

The Friends of the Savannah Coastal Wildlife Refuges is soliciting photographs taken at local refuges --  Blackbeard Island, Harris Neck, Pinckney Island, Savannah or Wassau -- for its second annual photo contest.

The photo contest is geared towards photographers of all ages, with separate prizes being awarded to youth and adult entries, according to a news release. Judging will be in three different categories -- wildlife, landscapes/waterscapes and people in nature.

The entry deadline is Oct. 1, and winning entries will be announced on Oct. 12.
