'Rockin' the Pink' breast-cancer walk set for Oct. 5

The Bluffton Firefighters' Auxiliary will host its fourth "Lowcountry Rockin' the Pink" breast-cancer walk Oct. 5.

The 3-mile walk begins and ends at Red Cedar Elementary School.

Registration starts at 7 a.m. The walk begins at 7:30 a.m., and the event includes vendors, food, drink and a silent auction, according to a news release.

Cost to participate in the walk is $20 until Sept. 30 and $25 afterward. Registration forms are online at blufftonfd.com/auxiliary.php or at the Bluffton Township Fire District's headquarters at 357 Fording Island Road.

All proceeds will help provide Lowcountry women with low-cost mammograms and breast-cancer treatment, according to the release.

Jim 'N Nick's BBQ will donate 10 percent of its profits to the walk from those who turn in receipts after eating between 5 and 9 p.m. Oct. 3.
