BASKETBALL

PALS AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM: What: Registration for Beaufort County Parks and Leisure Services After-School Program; Where: Bluffton center, Burton Wells, Broomfield, Port Royal, Scott Center and Lind Brown; Notes: Registrations will be accepted until each center is full. CYCLING

PRINCE WILLIAM CYCLE TOUR: What: 62-mile or 35-mile bicycle ride through the country roads of Prince William Parish; Where: Ride begins and ends at Buckfield Plantation in Yemassee; When: 8:30 a.m., Oct. 26; Cost: $35 per rider through Oct. 25, $45 day of; Notes: This is not a race. The annual ride is sponsored by the Yemassee Revitalization Corporation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to restore and beautify downtown Yemassee. An after-ride lunch will be served on the grounds of the plantation. All riders must be at least 16 years of age. Early registration for the event guarantees each rider a T-shirt, cue sheet, snacks, lunch and beverages. GOLF

FAMILY PROMISE TOURNAMENT: When: 10 a.m., Sept. 28; Where: Hilton Head National, Bluffton; Cost: $100 per person; Notes: All proceeds support Family Promise, which helps provide temporary shelter, family stability and permanent housing solutions for homeless families with children. AFTER-SCHOOL JUNIOR GOLF PROGRAM: Where: Old South Golf Links; When: Mondays, Sept. 23 to Oct. 21; Time: 4-5:30 p.m. Who: Grades 1 and up; Cost: $25 per week or $100 for five-lesson series; Notes: Includes snack, drink and USGA Rules Book. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY TOURNAMENT: What: 16th annual tournament to benefit Hilton Head Regional Habitat For Humanity; Where: Oldfield Golf Club, Okatie; When: 11 a.m., Sept. 30; Cost: $150 per person, $150 to sponsor hole, $600 to sponsor team; Notes: Includes all golf fees, lunch, beverages, bufffet dinner and gift bag. "BE A SAINT" GOLF CLASSIC: What: Tournament to benefit the free prenatal services offered by the Pregnancy Center & Clinic of the Low Country; Where: Hampton Hall Golf Club, Bluffton; When: 9:30 a.m., Nov. 4; Cost: $150; Notes: Separate flights for men, women and mixed teams. Contests and prizes, including $10,000 cash hole-in-one contest. Tournament gift, breakfast sandwich, luncheon buffet, refreshments and snacks. LACROSSE

MISCELLANEOUS

BEFORE-SCHOOL AND AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS: When: Monday through Friday (regularly scheduled public school days); Where: Hilton Head Island Recreation Center; Notes: Programs combine play with academics. Children in the afterschool program receive homework assistance. Programs focus on youth development, academic success, friendship and character-building. Before-school program children will be walked over to school. There is a registration fee of $30 per child or $50 per family each year. Completed registration forms must be turned in to Rec Center before your child can attend the program. Financial assistance is available to those in need. RUNNING

Hilton Head Island Bridge Run: What: 22nd annual Hargray Hilton Head Island Bridge Run 10K & 5K; When: 8 a.m., Oct. 20; Where: Crossings Park; Notes: 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer races take runners over the Broad Creek on the Cross Island Parkway. All participants receive a T-shirt. Post-race party and award ceremony with refreshments, music and door prizes. Event has raised more than $40,000 for local charities. ZOMBIE RUN FOR CAPA: What: 5K race to benefit the Child Abuse Prevention Association; When: 5 p.m., Oct. 27; Where: Naval Heritage Park, Port Royal; Notes: Registration at 5 p.m., followed by the Kids Costume Run at 5:30.
