Izers celebrate 60th anniversary

Grethe and Howard Izer celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Sept. 20, 2013. They were married at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Passaic, N.J., in 1953. Howard served as a Sergeant in the Army from 1950-1952. He completed his military service in the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea from 1951-1952 where he was honored with the Purple Heart. Before retiring to Palmetto Dunes on Hilton Head Island in April 1984, Howard served as a Vice President with Merrill Lynch for 25 years. The couple are lovingly devoted to each other as well as family, friends and country. They have three sons and three daughter-in-laws, Robert and Patricia of Charlotte, N.C., Thomas and Laura Lee of Charlotte, N.C., and William and Carol of Pompton Lakes, N.J. They also have four granddaughters.
