Ashton Guest broke up a fourth-down slant pass at the Beaufort Academy 6 with 30 seconds remaining to end one final Cathedral Academy threat and preserve the Eagles' 54-48 shoot-out win in SCISAA eight-man football action in Beaufort.

"They had a guy we couldn't stop, and we had a guy they couldn't stop," Beaufort Academy coach Brock Vaigneur said.

The Generals (2-2) player Vaigneur referenced was Christian Rogers.

"He was a nice little running back, receiver," Vaigneur said. "He did pretty good on defense, too."

The Eagle to whom Vaigneur was referring was senior running back Reyn Robinson, who rushed 30 times for 370 yards, four touchdowns and five two-point conversions.

Quarterback Clay Melville added two touchdowns on offense and 19 tackles on defense.

Beaufort Academy improves to 3-1 overall, 2-0 in region play. The Eagles face Charleston Collegiate on the road next week.
