Pedestrian hit by car in Bluffton Monday evening

A man walking his bicycle across the intersection of Bluffton Parkway and Simmonsville Road was hit by a vehicle Monday night.

The man, 58, is being treated in a medical facility, according to a news release from the Bluffton Police Department. His last known status was critical but stable, the release said.

The man was hit at about 7:45 p.m. Monday as he walked from the middle of the road into the driver's lane. The driver had the green light.

The investigation is continuing, but at this time no charges are pending, according to the release.
