Three traffic lights on Beaufort's Charles Street to be replaced

info@islandpacket.comSeptember 16, 2013

Three traffic lights will be installed along Beaufort's Charles Street by late October, replacing cable-hung signals.

The lights, which will have double-arm mast poles, will be at the street's intersections with Boundary, Craven and Bay streets. They are designed to be sturdier, more attractive and less prone to wind damage, according to the S.C. Department of Transportation.

The project costs more than $300,000 and is being paid for by the Transportation Department, Beaufort County and the city.
