The search for the body of a missing boater in Wimbee Creek continues, an S.C. Department of Natural Resources spokesman said Sunday.

DNR is still searching for 54-year-old Dale resident Carl Mulligan, who disappeared Wednesday, Capt. Robert McCullough said.

Witnesses said Mulligan was thrown from his boat when the steering wheel broke free from its column, throwing Mulligan into the water near where Wimbee Creek joins Whale Branch, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.

Mulligan was out fishing with a friend, James Albany of Dale, when he was thrown from his boat. Albany was not injured during the incident.
