Prep Roundup, Sept. 10: HHCA girls hold on for win at Bluffton tennis courts

Hilton Head Christian Academy 4, Bluffton 2: The host Bobcats made things interesting with three-set wins at No. 2 and No. 5 singles, but the Eagles had the victory in hand with a win at No. 2 doubles.

Madison Dillon, Monica Bundy and Kate Bennett won their singles matches in straight sets for Hilton Head Christian (3-0), which plays at Porter-Gaud on Monday.

Bluffton's next action will be Tuesday, against Hilton Head Christian at Hilton Head Beach and Tennis.

Hilton Head Prep 8, Porter-Gaud 1: In a rematch of last year's SCISAA state championship tilt, the Dolphins once again got the better of Porter-Gaud, extending their unbeaten streak to 18 matches.

Hilton Head Prep (4-0 overall, 2-0 region) only dropped four games in the singles matches.

Prep plays again Thursday, hosting Beaufort Academy at 4 p.m. at the Sea Pines Racquet Club.

Northwood Academy 3, Hilton Head Prep 0: The Dolphins gave the Chargers a battle in the first game but were swept in their second match in as many nights, 26-24, 25-15, 25-16.

Deia Hunt had four kills and a block, and Taylor Kent had three kills and an ace for Prep (1-6). Rowan Baltzley added a pair of aces and two kills, and Paige Lucas had three aces.

The Dolphins play again at First Baptist on Friday.

Bible Baptist 3, Hilton Head Prep 2 (Monday): The Dolphins saw a 2-1 lead slip away, as they lost to visiting Bible Baptist, 25-17, 23-25, 17-25, 25-19, 15-12.

Taylor Kent had 11 kills and three aces, and Riley Brown added seven kills. Keira Wojcikiewicz finished with five aces, while Megan Kelly had three aces and a kill.

Thomas Heyward Academy 2, Charleston Collegiate 0: The Rebels swept to a 25-14, 25-11 victory.

Leaders for the Rebels included Haylee Wade, who collected seven aces, three kills and two digs; and Victoria Quick, who had five aces, two digs and two kills.

The Rebels (2-4, 1-0) next travel to St. Andrews on Thursday.

Bluffton meet: Bluffton High School hosted a five-school meet, and the Bobcats won every event except for the girls 100-yard freestyle.

Greg Reed, John Evans and Jake Minasi each won two individual events for the Bluffton boys, while Danielle Faciszewski and Ashleigh Pangilinan were double winners for the Bluffton girls.

Beaufort Academy's Maya Bostwick kept the meet from being a Bobcat sweep, winning the 100 freestyle in a time of 1:02.53. Drummond Koppernaes led the Beaufort Academy boys, finishing third in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Sam Meighan was Hilton Head Prep's top performer, taking second in the boys' 100 breaststroke and third in the 200 individual medley.

Battery Creek's Ryan Ackerman was second in the 200 freestyle and fourth in the 100 backstroke.

Meaghan Lyons, of Okatie's John Paul II, finished second in the 100 butterfly.
