SWIMMING

Battery Creek (Thursday): The Dolphins competed in double dual meets with Region 6-AA foes Academic Magnet and Bishop England at Academic Magnet.

Ryan Ackerman finished second in the 200 and 500 freestyle events, while the 200 freestyle relay (Ackerman, Ryan Bestul, Stephen Kadas and John Lee) was within a second of earning a state meet consideration time.

Point scorers for the BC boys were Lee, Kadas, Ackerman, Bestul and Kevin Green. Point earners for the girls were Sarah Kardohely, Krystyn Kibler, Sydney Hopkins, Brittney Rodgers and Haylee Higuet.

The Dolphins' next meet is Tuesday against Beaufort Academy and Bluffton at Bluffton.

Hilton Head Island (Thursday): The Seahawks girls (3-0) got off to a great start against James Island, Stall and Hilton Head Christian Academy at the Island Rec Center. The girls team won all three meets, winning eight of 11 events against James Island and 11 of 11 against both Stall and Hilton Head Christian.

Girls winners for Hilton Head High included the 200 Medley Relay (Lilla Felix, Madison FIeld, Amelia Rzeczycki and Rachel Mangin), Lilla Felix (200 freestyle, 100 backstroke), Madison Field (200 IM, 100 butterfly), Isabella Brockman (100 freestyle), Victoria Gill (100 breaststroke) and the 400 Freestyle Relay (Felix, Lilly Kerr, Gill and Field).

Swimmers qualifying for the SCHSL State Championships include Felix, Field, Kerr, Gill, Mangin, Rzeczycki, Sarah Reamy, Karah Kurtz, Isabella Brockman and all three girls relays.

The Seahawks boys (3-0) also got off to a great start, beating James Island, Stall and HHCA. The boys won eight of 11 events against James Island and 10 of 11 against Stall and HHCA.

Boys winners for Hilton Head High included 200 medley relay (Tristan Cummings, Ryan Naddy, Clayton North and Elliot Gayken), Tristan Cummings (200 freestyle, 100 backstroke), Ryan Naddy (200 IM), Elliot Gayken (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle), Clayton North (500 freestyle), the 200 freestyle relay (Bryan Biggans, Will Guenther, Austin McLoud and Will McLoud) and the 400 freestyle relay (Cummings, Naddy, North and Gayken).

Swimmers qualifying for the SCHSL State Championships include: Cummings, North, McLoud, Naddy, Gayken and two relay teams.

Hilton Head Island's next competition is Sept. 12 agsinst Battery Creek, Bluffton and Hilton Head Christian.
