Chamber promotes Thomas to senior vice president of convention bureau

The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce has promoted Susan Thomas to senior vice president of the chamber's visitor and convention bureau.
Thomas has been with the bureau since 1997, according to a news release.

Under her direction in 2009, the bureau became one of less than 100 convention and visitor bureaus to be accredited by Destination Marketing Association International. The bureau has also recieved industry awards, including the national Gold Key Award for meeting planner service by a destination.

Thomas is currently the board chairwoman of the Southeast Tourism Society and the immediate past chairwoman of the S.C. Travel and Tourism Coalition. She has been the president of the S.C. Convention & Visitor Bureaus Association, too. Locally, she's on the board of trustees for the Mitchelville Preservation Project and Coastal South Carolina, USA.
