Six northern Beaufort County residents have been arrested for illegal drug activity by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

An associated case in Columbia led to the indentifcation of five Beaufort County residents suspected of fraudulently obtaining prescriptions for scheduled drugs, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.

They are: St. Helena Island resident John Pinto, 55; Beaufort resident Lashauna Jacobs, 31; Beaufort resident Kime Young, 34; St. Helena resident Bonita Mcclain-Chisolm, 39; and St. Helena resident Norris Jenkins, 59.

All have been charged with obtaining prescription by fraud. Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sgt. Robin McIntosh said all were charged for fraudulently obtaining prescriptions for oxycodone, a painkiller.

While arresting Pinto, investigators found that his roommate had marijuana. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence on Luther Warren Road on St. Helena. At the home, they found and seized 150 grams of marijuana, $748, two long guns, two hand guns and other drug paraphernalia.
