The Deep Well Project: Needs substitute office volunteers to interview the client regarding the present need and record all information in the computer database. In between interviews, the office volunteers do follow-up work with the requests: calling landlords, confirming employment, and checking with utility companies to validate the need. Only rudimentary computer skills are needed. Training is provided. United Way of the Lowcountry: Seeks local volunteers with knowledge of home repair to join 375 high school students from across the nation, and provide simple home repair services for needy Beaufort and Jasper County residents June 23-29. Approximately 60 projects in Beaufort, Bluffton, Ridgeland, Hardeeville, Hilton Head Island and other outlying areas will be completed. United Way conducts this program in partnership with The Catholic HEART Work camp as an effort to achieve one of its strategic priorities, to provide safe shelter for people who live and work in Beaufort and Jasper counties. Volunteers in Medicine Hilton Head Island: Seeking volunteers in patient relations, patient care services, development and translation services. Patient relations includes roles such as greeters, admission interviewers, appointment schedulers, document scanners and administrative assistants. Patient care volunteers include active, semi-retired or retired health care professionals, such as doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacists and therapists. The development department is looking for help with community fundraising and clerical needs. Translators are needed in the clinic, particularly those with fluency in Spanish.
