Gowns sought for Marine wives

A Beaufort County real estate firm is collecting previously worn gowns to help Marine wives attend the annual U.S. Marine Corps' ball Nov. 10, on the 238th birthday of the Corps.

Chris and Maria Skrip, owners of RE/MAX Island Realty, are collecting formal dresses for "Operation Fairy Gown Mother." Last year, the company collected more than 400 dresses, according to a news release.

Gowns and formal wear can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until Sept. 10 at the following locations: 1111 Bay St., Beaufort, 843-525-0020; 30 William Pope Drive, Bluffton, 843-707-7560; and 99 Main St., Hilton Head Island, 843-785-5252.
