Education foundation seeking volunteers

The Foundation for Educational Excellence, a fund of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, seeks volunteers to help its Friends of the Foundation Committee.

The committee has provided more than 100 Beaufort County public-school teachers with grant money for classroom projects impacting more than a thousand students. Grants have funded robotics, book collections, recycling and scientific studies. Funding comes from donations, corporate grants and the foundation's spring Jewels 'n' Jeans fundraiser, according to a news release.

Committee members assist the foundation's board with fundraising and grant-writing. An informational meeting will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 19 at Frankie Bones Restaurant on Hilton Head Island.

Details: Call Carol McMillan at 843-322-2306.
