Don't forget women also serve in military

info@islandpacket.comAugust 29, 2013

I was pleased to read Matt McNab's Aug. 26 story about the training available at the Technical College of the Lowcountry for transitioning service members.

While Matt used gender-neutral language (e.g., service members, students, people), I was disappointed that the headline specified "servicemen." Please remind whoever is responsible for writing headlines that while most military members are male, a significant portion of all branches of the military is female.

It might be a little thing, but as my grandmother (and the Marine Corps) taught me, it's the little things that sometimes count most.
