High School Roundup, Aug. 26: HHCA scores tennis win over Ashley Hall

Hilton Head Christian Academy 6, Ashley Hall 3: The Eagles defeated Ashley Hall for the first time in program history.

Hilton Head Christian's Madison Dillon was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Linsey Yarbrough at No. 1 singles. Other winners for the Eagles included Grace Berrigan at No. 5 singles and Meredith Inglis at No. 6 singles.

Hilton Head Christian returns to action Sept. 3 at Pinewood Prep.


No. 1 -- Madison Dillon (HHCA) def. Linsey Yarbrough 6-0, 6-0; No. 2 -- Ana Lei Kalawe (AH) def. Catherine Campbell 5-7, 6-4, 10-8; No. 3 -- Gules Laney (AH) def. Monica Bundy 6-4, 6-4; No. 4 -- Tiffany Dye (AH) def. Kate Bennett 6-1, 6-4; No. 5 -- Grace Berrigan (HHCA) def. Courtney Schoor 6-3, 6-2; No. 6 -- Meredith Inglis (HHCA) def. Avery Saunders 6-1, 6-3.


No. 1 -- Dillon/Campbell (HHCA) def. Yarbourgh/Kalawe 6-2, 6-0; No. 2 -- Bundy/Bennett (HHCA) def. Laney/Dye 9-7; No. 3 -- Berrigan/Maddy Bauer (HHCA) def. Saunders/Jenna Wallace 6-1, 6-3.


Pinewood Prep 3, Hilton Head Christian Academy 2: The Eagles won the opening two games then lost three straight to suffer their first defeat of the season.

Pinewood Prep won 24-26, 19-25, 26-24, 25-21, 15-8.

For the Eagles, Stevie Desimone registered 22 kills, Andy Anderson had five kills and 12 digs, and Hannah Reynolds chipped in three kills and 27 assists.

The Eagles (3-1) return to action Tuesday against visiting Thomas Heyward.
