Is there a way to help people in Syria, Egypt?

info@islandpacket.comAugust 26, 2013

My life normally hits a balance between problems and achievements. When things become overwhelmingly negative, I generally check around to see if it is just me or if the rest of my friends are suffering as well, the thought being the Universe is at fault for generating negative energy.

On Thursday, my eyes fell upon the headlines from The New York Times online, and I wept.

The tragedy of the Syrian holocaust put everything into perspective. I felt a wave of guilt wash over me as I thought about the tragedies there and in Egypt.

I cannot come close to imagining the terror played out in these people's lives. I feel so helpless. I have not a clue as to what I can do to mitigate their suffering, and it sincerely pains me.

If anyone in our community can shed some light on what we can do to help, please advise. (Kindly do not suggest donating to the Red Cross; too much money goes for administration.)
